British Columbia will introduce
a harmonized sales tax (HST) of 12 per cent, replacing the
PST and GST effective July 2010.
Generally, businesses that supply goods
or services that are to be delivered or performed on or after
July 1, 2010 and are paid or become payable on or after May
1, 2010 will be subject to the HST.

How does this impact your stay at
Royal Bed and Breakfast?
- Begining July 1, 2010 the 5% GST rate will be replaced
with a 12% HST rate.
- Standard booking proceedures are to charge 50% of your
stay at the time you book your reservation, with the balance
payable 30 days prior to arrival.
- Therefore:
- Deposits made before May 1, 2010 for stays after June
30, 2010 will be charged only the 5% GST rate.
- Deposits made after April 30, 2010 for stays after
June 30, 2010 will be charged the 12% GST rate.
